Rev. Darrell Wayne Slagle, Sr., age 72, Limestone, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Rev. Slagle was born in Carter County, TN and son of the late Christley Thomas Slagle & Emma Elizabeth Bristol Slagle Andes.
He was Pastor of King Springs Baptist Church for 20 years and had pastored one year at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He sang with the Glori-Aires Gospel Quartet and the Slagle Family Quartet.
Rev. Slagle was Co-Owner and Operator of the Red Rooster Restaurant at the Tri-City Flea Market. He also coached baseball for many years in the community.
Survivors include former wife, Patricia “Prissy” Kyker Slagle, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Slagle, Jr. & Stephanie, Jonesborough; daughters and sons-in-law, Terena Burkey & Kevin, Gray and Angie Tilson & Richard, Telford; brothers and sister-in-law, Terry Slagle & Ann, and Ronnie “Sap” Slagle; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Keplinger & David; grandchildren, Erica Loyd, Kourtney Patchell, Brittany Greer, Brandon Burkey, Caleb Tilson, Nathan Burkey, Ben Tilson and Rachel Tilson; great-grandchildren, Craig Anthony Patchell, Cloey Loyd, Braxton Loyd, Paisley Greer and soon to come, Harper Loyd; and girlfriend, Liz Collins, Limestone.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Slagle, Jr., Rev. Burl Sluder and Brother Terry Slagle officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 4:00 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Burkey, Nathan Burkey, Caleb Tilson, Ben Tilson, Johnny Slagle Shane Slagle, Jordan Loyd, Jackson Taylor and Joseph Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Slagle and SSGT Joshua Greer.
