Mrs. Mavis “Sue” Greer, age 68, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Greer was born in Washington County and daughter of the late Fred & Edna Bryant Higgins. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Higgins and Charles Milhorn and one sister, Darlene Elrod.
She was a member of Cherry Grove Baptist Church. Her grandchildren called her “Nan” and she loved them dearly.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Greer, Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Penny & Toney Strickland, Greeneville; son and daughter-in-law, Keith & Jenny Greer, Johnson City; grandchildren, Cody Shell, LeeRoy Greer and Cooper Greer; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred & Kim Higgins, Jonesborough; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Cherry Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Tommy Clark officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00-7:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Cherry Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cody Shell, LeeRoy Greer, Tom Lee, Jerry Perkins, Henry Reeves, Craig Swizer, Bill Murr, Ted Lyons, Clyde Story, Dwayne Greer and Nathan Coggins. Honorary pallbearers will be David Keplinger and Cooper Greer.
