Mr. Tommie “Tom” L. Crowder, age 72, Telford, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Crowder was born in Madison County, NC and son of the late William & Flora Howell Crowder. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Crowder and one sister, Mary Dunn.
He was a member of New Victory Baptist Church.
Mr. Crowder was a Millwright and worked for English Boiler and Tube, Inc. He loved to hunt and fish.
He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Crowder, Telford; two sons, Steve Crowder, New Orleans, and Tommy Crowder and wife, Laura, Limestone; granddaughter, whom he cherished more than anything, Sydney Crowder, Telford; one brother, Dewey Crowder, Johnson City; three sisters, Helen Campbell, Jonesborough, Clara Dykes, Johnson City and Pauline Sanders, Toledo, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Sue Morton, Piney Flats and Betty Correll, Gray; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rita Hopson, RN, Dr. Guy Robbins, entire attending staff on the 2nd floor at Franklin Woods Community Hospital for their wonderful care. Thanks also to his employers John Rick and Chuck English.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Dilllow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday at Maple Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Bill Ponder officiating.
Pallbearers will be friends.
