Robert Johns, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his residence, a few days before his 81st birthday. He was born August 13, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA and was one of three children of Kyle and Madelene Johns.
After graduating from high school, Bob joined the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. After separating from the military, he married and moved to California to raise a family. He worked for Columbia Showcase in Sun Valley and joined the Local 721 Carpenters, Cabinetmakers, and Joiners of America. He retired after thirty years and moved to Jonesborough 15 years ago.
Bob enjoyed coaching little league for many years and fishing. His passion was remodeling and cabinet making where he was both skilled and a perfectionist.
Bob is survived by his second wife of 23 years, Loretta Johns; son Robert Johns and wife Lydia; daughter Felicia Gouge and companion Christopher Franklin; two granddaughters, Courtney Wallerstein and husband Randy, and Kaily Gouge; Loretta’s children Diane Schuppan, John Flynn, Danny Flynn, and Kim Bailey; brother James Johns, and sister Barbara Henderson.
Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife of 32 years Mary Johns and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at the home of John and Sharon Verble, a close family friend. Please contact the family for details.
