Mr. Jerry Wayne Dykes, age 70, Limestone, Tennessee, passed away June 5, 2014 after an extended illness.
Mr. Dykes was born in Washington County, Tennessee and the son of the late Closen and Burma Philips Dykes. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Rex, Kreed, and Ledon Dykes and a sister, Charlene Saults.
Mr. Dykes retired from the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center after 35 years of service.
He enjoyed his animals and gardening.
Mr. Dykes was a United States Army veteran having serviced his country during the Korean conflict.
Mr. Dykes was a member of the Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and choir director for many years.
Survivors include three sisters, Janice Baines of Jonesborough, Glen Livingston of Nashville, and Ann Segarra (Terry) of Nashville; one brother, Billy Dykes of Telford; several nieces and nephews, and special nephew, Keary Dykes.
Funeral services for Mr. Dykes will be conducted Saturday June 7, 2014, 6:00PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Dykes and Pastor Sam Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00PM to 6:00PM prior to the service.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Segarra, Keary Dykes, Greg Dykes and Michael Livingston.
