Mr. Samuel Clyde Sparks, age 81, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Sparks was a native of Washington County, TN and son of the late Estelle F. & Lillie Mashburn Sparks. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Brown and Dorothy Cole and two brothers, Donald Sparks and David Mack Sparks.
Mr. Sparks was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Jonesborough.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Sparks was a builder both commercial and homes. After his retirement, he spent many hours in his work shop making beautiful items from wood. When he was unable to go to his workshop, he enjoyed watching “Walker” re-runs with his grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sparks; son, Samuel Keith Sparks, Jonesborough; daughter, Constance Sluss and husband, Greg Sluss, Telford; one very very special grandson, Matthew Sluss; two brothers, Floyd Sparks and Hartsell Sparks and wife, Virgie, all of Johnson City; two sisters, Marie Brown and husband, Hoot Brown, Telford and Patsy Keys, Jonesborough; and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Harrod officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 10:30 AM Friday, May 23, 2014 at Happy Valley Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Brian Briggs, Greg Sluss, Steve Legg, Nathan Coggins, Ronald Briggs, Bobby Brown and Tony Sparks.
