Mr. Herman J. Jones, age 84, Jonesborough, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
Mr. Jones was born in Jonesborough and son of the late Rev. Daniel Webster & Bessie Nora Vaughn Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon J. Jones and several brothers and sisters.
He was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church.
Mr. Jones was a business man and owner and operator of Jones Construction Company. He was always willing to help others and was loved by everyone who knew him.
He served in National Guard. He was a Mason and Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star Rhea Lodge #47 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Hartsell Jones, Jonesborough; one daughter, Sandy G. Fannon and husband Donnie, Jonesborough; two sons, Randy D. Jones, and Jeffrey T. Jones and wife Lisa, all of Jonesborough; two step-children: Kim Fink, Jonesborough, and Michael Parker, Wilmington, NC; one sister, Lena Cibrario; three grandchildren, Misty Saults, Josh Broyles, and Jacob Long; great-grandchildren, Breanna Harrison, Joshua C. Broyles, Emily Saults and Grace Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the nurses at Franklin Woods and the Hospice care givers.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cambron and Rev. Josh Broyles officiating. Entombment services will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Long, Larry Arrowood, Terry Harrison, Doug Mackie, Ricky Treadway and Gary Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Whitson, Rick Gray, Steve Foltz and Gary Bennett.
