Mrs. Olivia J. Kyker, 83, of the “Conklin Community” Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, 3:45 p.m. at the Four Oaks Health Care Center.
She attended Mt. Wesley U.M. Church where she enjoyed singing in the Church Choir. She was retired from Washington County Schools where she taught school at Lamar, Embreeville, Fall Branch, and Leesburg. Her desire was to make a difference in a child’s life.
Olivia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to the community.
She was the daughter of the late V. C. Burdine and Bertha Burdine. She preceded in death by one infant brother, Robert.
She is survived by her husband, James J. Kyker, of 55 years, a daughter; Sandra Holt and husband, David Holt, a son; James ”Jim” Kyker and wife Kim, grandchildren; Travis Holt and wife, Katrina, Tracy Holt, Amelia Kyker, Lindsey Kyker, great-grandchildren; James Holt and Emmarie “Emmy” Holt, one sister; Edna “Ruth” McPeck, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will have a “private” memorial ceremony.
