Ms. Mary Ruth Brown, age 88, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Indian Path Medical Center.
She was born in Washington County and daughter of the late Edgar George Brown, Sr. & Minnie Mitchell Brown.
Ms. Brown was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.
She enjoyed farming and taking care of her cattle.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Nancy Stevens, Elizabeth Russell (Fred), John Brown (Barbara), Janis Strickler (Carl), David Russell Brown (special friend, Shirley) and Danny Garst
(Judy); very special friend, Deloris Hicks; and many other special friends and neighbors.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Indian Path Medical Center 5th Floor Doctors and Nursing Staff and to all who sent cards, flowers and prayed for Mary Ruth.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday, March 7, 2014 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Wallace officiating. Music will be provided by Mark Jones and Danny & Judy Garst. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM Friday prior to the service and other times at the home of the niece, Nancy Stevens. Interment services will follow at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John T. Brown, John W. Brown, Russell Brown, Galen Birdwell, Lynn Jones and Gene Sherfey. Honorary pallbearers will be Guy Barron, Bobby Garst, Carl Strickler and Fred Russell.
