Mrs. Catherine Ferguson Hulse, age 100, finished her celebration in this life on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital to begin a new celebration.

Mrs. Hulse was born in Washington County and daughter of the late Charles & Etsel Miles Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Beryl A. Hulse, brother, Summer Ferguson and a granddaughter, Robin Casey Hyatt.

She was an active lifetime member of Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Hulse was a 25 year active member of the Conklin Ruritan Club and was honored by Ruritan National on her 100 birthday for her years of community service.

She was an avid Atlanta Braves and NASCAR fan, affectingly known as “Granny Bandit” a nickname given to her by Harry Gant. She also enjoyed a good Western on TV.

Survivors include her daughter Anna Hulse Casey Wooden, Jonesborough; granddaughter, Starlene Casey, Lawrenceville, GA; great-grandsons, Daniel Casey, Jonesborough, Ben, Nick and Zack Hyatt, all of Greeneville; great-great granddaughter, Sadie Hyatt, Greeneville; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann McKee Ferguson, Jonesborough and Louise Hulse, Johnson City; special cousins, Keith Pierce, Don Miles, Marie Reeves, Evelyn Miller and Phyllis Croyle; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Dolene Barnes and the Barnes family, Bill & Kathryn Slemons, Jane Wright, Jane Dillow, Clyde & Martha Tipton and Darrell & Sandra Rowe.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeremy Dykes and Rev. Jeff Talent officiating. Music will be provided by Paul Masters and Sharon Lewis. Interment will follow at Mt. Wesley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles Ferguson, Chip Green, Robbie Waddle, Hunter Waddle, Alan Jackson, Charles Estep, Brownie King and Paul Lewis.
