Mr. Elbert G. “E.G.” Carey, 81, Gray, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Lakebridge Health Care Center.

Mr. Carey was a native of Washington County, the son of the late Arthur and Cora Lee Carey. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth Sluder Carey and a brother Jack Carey.

He was a building contractor and had been a previous president of the Johnson City Home Builders Association.

He was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife Deanna Holley Carey, Gray, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jon Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
