Mrs. Virginia Mae Poteat, age 75, Jonesborough, went home to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at her residence after a long illness.
Mrs. Poteat was a daughter of the late Earl Vestal & Martha Marinda Barnett and had lived in Jonesborough all her life. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poteat was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Poteat.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and former member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church.
Mrs. Poteat retired from Baxter Pharmaseal.
Survivors include four daughters, Deborah Ann Miller, Vicky Lynn Lloyd (Jerry), Barbara Sue Thompson (Richard) and Mary Lou Sluss (Tim); two brothers, Eugene Lee Gray (Shirley) and Ronnie Mitchell “Mickey” Gray (Jill); brother-in-law, Steve Poteat (Melba); grandchildren, Jennifer Rogers, Alan M. Miller, Christy Schultz, Bradley Miller, Bobby Kinley, Leanne Murvin and Josh Broyles; eight great grandchildren; aunt, Edna Wiseman; and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Rogers, Rev. Jon Rogers and Rev. Brian Nulf officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service.
Entombment services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers, Ashley Weaver, Alisha Crabtree, Carrie Reed and Rhonda Bailey. As well as Mountain States Hospice and Dr. Brian Way.
