Irene Messo Baskette, 89, Cary, NC passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Saturday, October 5, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lee Lawrence, her father, Frank Messo, and her husband, James Baskette.

She is survived by her daughter, Elly Tomlinson of Cary, NC, her granddaughters Khristi Tomlinson of Cary, NC and Julie Newman of Concord, NC, her grandsons-in-law, Warren Lewis and Gary Newman, and her great-grandchildren, Chase Newman, Ben Lewis, and Becca Lewis. She was also survived by two brothers, Richard Messo of Gig Harbor, Washington and Don Messo of Tacoma, Washington, and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was born and grew up in Tacoma, WA, then moved to Limestone, TN where she lived for 40 years. After the death of her husband, she returned to Tacoma where she resided until 3 years ago when she moved to Cary, NC to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 12 at Fairview Cemetery in Jonesborough, TN at 11am with a reception immediately following. The family will receive visitors at 105 Aisling Ct, Cary NC at 4pm on Sunday, October 13.

Her family would like to extend their warmest thanks to the staff of Western Wake Hospital 2 East and Hospice of Wake County for the wonderful care they provided.
