Mr. Richard Frederick Hart, age 73, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.

Mr. Hart was born in Detroit, Michigan and son of the late Richard F. & Francis VanEvery Hart. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Atkinson.

He was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He served as Chaplain for the Veteran Administration and worked with the Prison Ministries. He served as Pastor for 25 years in Tennessee and Georgia.

Mr. Hart attended TN Temple University for seven years, earning a Doctorate Degree.

He was a United States Naval Chief Petty Officer, retired, having served for 22 years.

Mr. Hart was a HAM Radio Operator.

Survivors include his wife, Mary “Pauline” Whaley Hart, Jonesborough; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill & Cherie Hart, Jacksonville, FL and Robert & Michelle Hart, Union Grove, NC; grandchildren, Shannon Hart, Heather Navarro (Stephen), Ryan Hart (Lisa), Lindsay Hart, Sydney Hart, Robert Hart, Jr., Jacob Hart and Henry Hart; great-grandchildren, C.J. Hart, Lillian Lutz and Lillian Hart.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Highland Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 10:00 am Friday, September 13, 2013 at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Deacons of Highland Baptist Church will serve as Pallbearers.
