Grace Aiken, 83, of Princeton, IL passed away on September 5, 2013 at Liberty Village in Princeton, IL, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Aiken was born June 27, 1930 in Limestone, Tennessee to the late Daniel C. and Martha (Bailey) Bailey. She married Robert (Bob) Aiken of Telford, TN. He preceded her in death December 20, 2007. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Kaye (Aiken) See, 4 brothers (Floyd, Guar, Estel, Avery) and 4 sisters (Edith, Bertha, Emma, Nora).
She graduated from Limestone Schools and became a lifelong homemaker and active member of several churches, the First Brethren Church in Lanark, IL and Heritage Baptist Church in Johnson City. She was active in Woman’s auxiliary and woman’s domestic missionary services, as well as serving as an In-Home-Care provider for the elderly, while residing in the Lanark, IL area.
Surviving are her brother, Elmer( Ruby) Bailey in Tennessee; son, Bill ( Marsha) Aiken of Princeton, IL; grandchildren, Michelle (Jeremy) Elliott of Johnson City , Tennessee; Tyler See in Douglville, Georgia; Britt (Angel) See of Limestone, Tennessee; Kellie (Chris) Tappan of Dixon, IL; Stacy (Duane) Long of Dixon, IL, Rebecca ( DJ) Martinez of New Brunfells, Texas; Kris (Nick) Tarpein of Bettendorf, Iowa; 15 great grandchildren, four great/great grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 pm Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Reggie Weems officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30 pm Monday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Bob and daughter, Linda.
Pallbearers will be Brit See, Tyler See, Jeremy Elliott, Jeff Aiken, Jerry Broyles and Terry Jaynes.
Memorials may be directed to St Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley, IL and will be directed to St Margaret’s Hospice.
