Mr. Haskel Baines, Jr. age 73, Jonesborough, entered into rest Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his residence after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Mr. Baines was a lifelong native and resident of Washington County, TN and son of the late Haskel Alfred Baines and Geneva Gertrude Littleton Baines. In addition to his parents, He was also preceded in death by an infant sister and two brothers, Galen Richard Baines and Bobby Creed Baines.

Mr. Baines was a member of the Johnson City Church of God.

He was a drywall construction worker having worked all over the tri-cities and in several different states. He loved to “tinker” with, fix, paint and trade vehicles. He loved to grow a garden, go camping and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela Baines Johnson and Julie Baines Stiles, both of Jonesborough; one son, Stephen L. Baines and wife, Tracy, Jonesborough; confidant, friend and former wife, Nancy DeVoti Baines; four granddaughters, Amanda Baines, Kristin Bennett and husband, Matt, Jonesborough, Brianna Williams and husband, Tommy, Centerville, OH and Kendra Baines, Johnson City; two grandsons, Coty Baines, Gray and Austin Baines, Jonesborough; three great-granddaughters, Isabell Baines, Khloe Bennett and Madison Bennett, all of Jonesborough; great-grandson, Reid Williams, Centerville, OH; two brothers, Jimmy Baines and Gary Baines, Jonesborough; four sisters, Nancy Burgner, Chattanooga, Judy Hart, Pensacola, FL, Brenda Sanders and Linda Corum, Kingsport; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Johnson City Church of God with Rev. Bryant C. Collins and Rev. Tony Collins officiating. Special music will be provided by his daughter, Angela Baines Johnson. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-2:00 pm Saturday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough.

Pallbearers will be Mathew Bennett, Gary Cooter, Travis Moore, Mike Oliver, Johnathan DeVoti and Chris McKinney.
