Mrs. Geneva Ayers, age 89, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Appalachian Christian Village.

Mrs. Ayers was a native of Yancey County, NC and daughter of the late Biss & Amy Wilhite Peterson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was also preceded in death by her husband, Murlin Junior Ayers, son, Sidney, two brothers and one sister.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Kent Ayers and wife Carolyn, Jonesborough and James L. Ayers, Johnson City; daughter, Bobbye Webb, Jonesborough; granddaughter/daughter, Kim Sams and husband, Bill, Jonesborough; sister, Barbara Mosley and husband John, Debary, FL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City Medical Center and Karen Perkey for their wonderful love and care.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Harold McNabb officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, July 29, 2013 at Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.
