Mrs. Marie Palmer, age 96, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at the NHC Healthcare of Johnson City.
Mrs. Palmer was born in Tennessee and daughter of the late Gene & Cornelia Cochran Baines. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Palmer was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Palmer, daughter, Loeda Utsman, grandson, Kelly Leonard, brothers, Marvin Baines, Leo Baines, Clifford Baines, Ralph Baines, Delbert Baines, Luther Baines and Parker Baines and sisters, Bernice Jones and Ethel Holsclaw.
She was a member of Leesburg Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Palmer was a Homemaker and a member of the Burley Bowling League until she was 82 years old. She was also a member of Jonesborough Senior Citizens and loved to play rook and shuffleboard.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva N. Daniels and husband, Jack, Johnson City and Opal Leonard, Gray; one sister, Edna R. Cox, Jonesborough; son-in-law, Layman Utsman; grandchildren Butch Collins, Dwayne Leonard, Rod Collins (Karen), Carrie Gunning (David), Cathy Utsman, Tim Daniels, Terry Daniels and Kim Miller (Jason); 12 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Bo Deaton officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Jerry Huskins. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, July 5, 2013 at Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Daniels, Terry Daniels, Rod Collins, Dwayne Leonard, Butch Collins, Dave Gunning and Randy Laws.
