Mr. Jay L. Laws, age 70, Limestone, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 with his family by his side.
Mr. Laws was a native of Washington County and son of the late Albert & Blanche Deakins Laws of Limestone.
Jay retired from Plus Mark in Greeneville and was a lifelong farmer.
He was loved by everyone he came in touch with. He was a man of strong faith, kindness and generosity and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He loved his family very much and was always there to help. He found enjoyment working on his farm with a special dog, Roscoe, by his side. One of the greatest things he loved was being a Papaw to his grandchildren who he was very proud of. He especially enjoyed attending their ballgames and other events.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Laws was preceded in death by his brother, Junior Laws and a sister, Thelma Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Callie Laws, Limestone; son, Michael Laws, Limestone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie & Tony Lane, Midway and Wanda & Mike Day, Telford; grandchildren, Cody Day, Morgan Lane and Dustin Day; brothers and sisters-in-law, George & Gertha Laws, Erwin, Daryl & Christine Laws, Johnson City, Tommy & Brenda Laws, Limestone; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue & G.W. Miller, Greeneville, Linda & Jackie Linkous, Bulls Gap, Edna & Carroll Norton, Chuckey and Brenda & Lynn Chandler, Greeneville; a special nephew, Chris Laws; and several nephews, nieces and a host a friends.
The family wishes to give special thanks to a special sister-in-law, Gertha Laws, for the compassion and wonderful care she provided, Stacey Wright with Caris Hospice, your kindness will always be remembered, Pastors Jeremy Dykes and Kevin Laws for the many prayers and visits.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Friday, June 28, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Dykes and Pastor Kevin Laws officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Philadelphia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Laws, Mike Day, Tony Lane, George Laws, Cody Day, Dustin Day and Chris Laws. Honorary pallbearers are brothers, brother-in-laws and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jackson Park Church of Brethren Youth Group c/o Jeremy Dykes 100 Oak Grove Ave. Jonesborough, TN 37659.
