Mr. Forrest Byron “Sonny” Maloney, age 84, Telford, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at the home of his niece and nephew, Jez & Shauna Alison.

Mr. Maloney was a native of Washington County and son of the late Ralph Brabson & Velma Moore Maloney. Mr. Maloney was also preceded by one brother and seven sisters.

He was a member of Telford United Methodist Church.

Mr. Maloney was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

He graduated from ETSU with a Bachelor of Science Degree and University of Tennessee with a Masters Degree in Education. He retired from the Washington County School System.

Survivors include one sister, Vonda Maloney Wilhoit, Dallas, TX; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Our uncle “Sonny” was known to his family and community as a kind, generous and compassionate educator, mentor and friend.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Bishop Richard Looney and Rev. Michael Vaughn officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Saturday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Telford Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Loudy, Cody Alison, Roger Bailey, Randy Wilhoit Jackie Maloney and Dr. C.A. Renfro. Honorary pallbearer will be Jez Alison.
