Mr. Jack Dean Brown, age 77, of Fall Branch, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 with his loved ones in hand.

Mr. Brown was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and was the son of the late Tobe and Hazel Jobe Brown of Fall Branch. He graduated from Schenley High School and then went on to receive his Civil Engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and later, his MBA from the University of Chicago. He served honorably as an Army captain, and went on to enjoy a distinguished consulting career until his retirement. In 1987, he committed his life to farming and the preservation of his family legacy. Shortly thereafter he became the primary care giver to his uncle, Henry Brown, who he loved as a father. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Brown, and sister, Pauline Lucas.

A true Renaissance man and avid world traveler, Mr. Brown pursued life to its fullest. Among his numerous achievements, he held a patent for the first hospital error avoidance system, and established a charitable organization, Pet Pals, dedicated to improving the quality of life for the elderly. He believed life was about learning and continued attending classes at ETSU until his final days.

He was a generous man and truly valued his family and friends. His Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law David and Patricia Brown, Toby and Laura Brown; three daughters and a son-in-law Allis Brown, Lauri Brown, and Cindy and Scott Elliott; grandchildren, Dylan Fish, Riley Fish, Darren Fast and wife Meredith, Kevin Fast, Eric Fast, Jairo Brown, Symon Elliott, Sierra Elliott, Josiah Elliott, and Caden Elliott; great-grandchildren Skylar Fast, Devyn Fast, Brandon Bowman, and Allison Bowman.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013, 1:00 PM at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Vic Wallace officiating.
