Sarah Eva Goodman Sanders, age 91, Sulphur Springs, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Sanders was a native of Washington County and was the daughter of the late Paul and Faye Harrison Goodman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jackson (Bill) Sanders in 2002; son, Lindel; daughter, Carolyn; an infant daughter; son-in-law, Charles (Bruce) White; sisters-in-law, Lucy Sanders, Gladys Douglas, Patsy Sanders, Wanda Sanders, Ama Dean Sanders and Virginia Sanders; brothers-in-law, H. L. Sanders, Clinton Fitzgerald, N.J. Sanders, and Bob Douglas.

She was a much loved mother, grandmother and friend who was devoted to both her family and friends.

Sarah was a 1940 graduate of Boones Creek High School and a retired employee of the Washington County School System and farmer. She loved cooking for her family and others.

Mrs. Sanders attended Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren and was a past board member of Sulphur Springs Community Chest.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Kathy Sanders of Gray and Dale and Brenda Sanders of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Janice White also of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) Sanders of Gray, Lori (Jeremy) Jenkins of Gray, Jeana Sanders (Scott Fairbairn) of Knoxville, Roger (Kim) Sanders of Sulphur Springs; Step-grandchildren, Megan (Kenny) Hayes of Limestone, Matt Kwiatkowski of Knoxville; Great-grandchildren, Haven Sanders, Declan Sanders, Jackson Jenkins, and Josie Jenkins, Ryan Sanders, Reid Sanders; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Sue Fitzgerald, Clifford and Minnie Sanders, Joe Sanders, Clifton Sanders all of Gray, Wallace and Mary Sanders of Johnson City, and James Sanders of Harmony; several nieces, nephews and cousins, special friends, Ann Depew, Willie and Judy Hilbert, Gail Kiser, Lisa Barnes, Jean Carter, Brenda Garst, Dennis and Donna Depew.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to special care givers Shelby Greene and daughter-in-law Kathy, and the employees of Amedisys Home Health.

Pallbearers will be Dickie Rice, Chris Sanders, Jeremy Jenkins, Darrin Sherfey, Jackie Sanders, and Matt Kwiatkowski. Junior pallbearers will be Great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Frank Johnson, Willie Hilbert, Mike Sanders, Charles Muse, Joe Bacon, Roger Sanders, Scott Fairbairn and Kenny Hayes.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, 773 Brethren Church Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659 or Boone Trail Baptist Church, 1985 Carroll Creek Road, Johnson City, TN 37604.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 8:00 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home under the direction of Pastor Don Hilton and Pastor Parker Street. Special music will be provided by The Ford Family and Brenda Sanders.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until service time at 8:00 PM.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, April 18, 2013, 10:00 AM at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
