Mrs. Cleo Ray Hughes, age 69, of Telford, TN passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013. Mrs. Hughes was a native of Erwin, TN and daughter of the late Berta Anderson Ray and Lowell Ray. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Howard Hughes.

Over the years, the Hughes' had many hobbies, such as bowling, tennis, dancing and cooking. They particularly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working in their vegetable garden following their retirements.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hughes was employed as a chemist with Nuclear Fuel
Services in Erwin, TN. Earlier in her career she taught chemistry and physics at Unicoi County High School and later served on the Unicoi County School Board.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan Creutzinger and husband Patrick of Fayetteville, GA and Karen Shelton and husband Jamey of Flag Pond, TN; her brother, Dr. James Ray of Unicoi, TN; her two sisters, Kathryn Booth and husband Fred of Nashville, TN and Judith Riddle of Titusville, FL; her five grandchildren, Nathan Creutzinger, Aubrey Creutzinger, Gavin Williams, Brooke Shelton and Wyatt Shelton; and special friends Linda Adams and Sharon Stone.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 17, 2013, 2:00 P.M. at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Lively officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery, Johnson City, TN

Pallbearers will be Randall Masters, Clay Anderson, David Riddle, Matthew Booth, Danny Murphy and Dr. Bart McKinney.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Niswonger Children's Hospital in Johnson City, TN
