Raymond Eugene Ayers, Sr.

Mr. Raymond Eugene Ayers, Sr., Johnson City formerly of Chestnut Grove Rd. Jonesborough,, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Ayers was born in Unicoi and son of the late Roy Jack & Mary Alice Bowman Ayers. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayers was also preceded in death by daughter, Diana Lynn Ayers, four brothers and two sisters.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Ayers retired from the Washington Farmers Co-op of Jonesborough as a Truck Driver. He loved music, especially Blue Grass and Gospel Music, enjoyed traveling, going to Walt Disney World, telling jokes and loved animals. Everyone loved him for his fun personality and his caring ways.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Rhodes Ayers, Johnson City; one daughter, Suzan Carol Ayers Amos, Telford; sons, Raymond Eugene Ayers, Jr. and wife, Deborah and Wayne Ernest Ayers, all of Johnson City; grandson, Scotty Lee Breeden; granddaughter, Jacqueline D. Ayers Shade and husband, Jason; three sisters and one brother; and canine friend, Jimmy Ayers, of the home; and several nephews and nieces.

He was a patient of Divta Dialysis for four years, where he felt a special bond as a family there and had many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Greer and Pastor Wilkie Brookshire officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Thursday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family & friends.
