Wayne Moss Wells

Numbered with the saints in Glory, Mr. Wayne Moss Wells, age 95, Johnson City, TN, passed away Monday, April 1st, 2013, at his residence.

Wayne Wells was born in Mitchell, NE in 1917 to the late Floyd & Emma Moss Wells. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Rose Wells, and four older brothers, Harold, Leslie, Lawrence, and Dallas Wells.

Married in 1939, he and his wife farmed in Gering, NE. To this union three children were born, Kathryn (Bill) Jamison of NM, Dr. Glynn M. (Pat) Wells of MD and Polly (Doug) Theobald of TN.

In 1956 they moved to Napa, CA, where he worked as a carpenter and retired in 1977. The couple traveled over much of the US during the next three years and established a residency in Hobbs, NM. In 1980 they were called to the ministry of senior citizens at First Christian Church in Napa, retiring from that position in 1992. Due to declining health they moved to Johnson City in 2000.

Wayne is survived by his three children and their spouses, seven grand children and their spouses, Becky Jamison Waldrop of NM, Rachel Jamison Baldwin of TX, Dr. Brian Wells of FL, Jennifer Wells Wolferman of MD, Sean Wells of KY, Dr. Douglas Theobald Jr., MA, and Carrie Theobald Buell of TN along with 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Rose of CA; nephews, Don Wells, Richard Wells, both of NE, William Wells and one niece, Patty Wells Morrison both of CO.

Wayne, at his passing, was a member of Hopwood Christian Church in Johnson City. In the past he had been a member of Central Church of Christ in Gering, First Christian Church in Napa (where he served as a long-time elder and Sunday School teacher and started an active foreign missions program) and First Christian Church in Hobbs. Besides church work, Wayne enjoyed golfing, bowling, photography and baseball.

His seven grandchildren fondly remember Wayne for his love of the Lord through his daily shared morning devotions and his many prayers offered on their behalf. And, they honor him.

Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Pastor Tim Ross officiating.
