Mr. Lode D. Britt, age 88, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Britt was a native of Washington County and son of the late Walter Britt, Sr. & Pearl Helton Britt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Britt was also preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Elizabeth Holsclaw Britt, daughter, Patsy Britt, granddaughter, Robin Britt Henderson, a great-granddaughter, Mackay Landry Henderson, three sisters, Ethel Britt, Mary Lee Britt Hurdt, and Rose Ella (Sue) Britt Hankal, and three brothers, John D. Britt, Norman Britt and Walter Britt, Jr.

He was an active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and was on the Building Committee.

Mr. Britt was a United Sates Army Veteran having served in World War II.

He retired from Burlington Industries as 30 years of service. He was a private pilot for many years and had flown in the “Top Gun” Pilot Program of the Blue Angels in St. Augustine, Florida.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy & Terry Henderson, Johnson City; grandsons, Christopher Kevin Henderson, Jonesborough, and Jonathan Brian Henderson and wife, Kristy, Alpharetta, GA; great-grandchildren, Mary Ashley Henderson, James Christopher Henderson, both of Johnson City and Madison Brooks Henderson, Alpharetta, GA; three great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Britt, Jonesborough; brother-in-law, Ralph Vaughn, Jr. Jonesborough; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Nulf officiating. The family will receive friends form 1:00-2:00 pm Thursday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family & friends.
