Virgil "Tuff" Sliger

Mr. Virgil “Tuff” Sliger, age 81, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Sliger was a native of Washington County and son of the late Fred & Maxie Loyd Sliger. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sliger was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Sliger, Ed Sliger and N.B. “Buck” Sliger one sister, Anna Mae Sliger and a great-great-grandson, Samuel Luke Howell.

He was a member of New Victory Baptist Church.

Mr. Sliger was a St. Louis Cardinals, NASCAR and UT fan.

Survivors include his wife, Goldie “Pat” Sliger, Jonesborough; daughters, Connie Brookshire, Jonesborough and Tammy Lowe, Johnson City; one son, Timmy Sliger, Jonesborough; two sisters, Marie McGee, Telford and Cara Lee Cooper (Lee), Jonesborough; three sisters-in-law, Lucille McKee, Jonesborough, Deloris Cloyd and Bernadean Sliger, both of Telford; special friend, Alma Ruth Jarrett and the late Evert Jarrett, Limestone; grandchildren, Tonia Dye, Brandie Crass, Keri Lowe, Dusty Sliger, Chance Brookshire and Heather Stout; great-grandchildren, Brue McKee, Samantha McKee, Paige Mckee, Colby Brookshire, Brady Crass, Kaysyn Crass, Elli Crass and Wayne Sliger.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, January 7, 2013 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Lester Morelock officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Monday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at New Victory Methodist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chance Brookshire, Michael Dye, Bruce McKee, Buddy Crass, Matthew Silvers and Dusty Sliger. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Curt McGee, Pete McGee, Randy Cooper and Joe Dickeson.
