Mr. Ernest Winters, age 77, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Winters was born in Baskerville, NC and son of the late Wade Winters & Vaultie Yelton Winters Canipe.

He was a member of Boone Trail Baptist Church.

Mr. Winters was a United States Army Veteran.

He worked for Mason & Dixon for 18 years and was owner and operator of Ernest Winters & Associates.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Willie Jane Stover Winters, Jonesborough; daughter and son-in-law, Anita & Scotty Briggs, Jonesborough; two granddaughters, Amanda Hinkle and husband, Brandon, Jonesborough and Ashley Scism and husband, Brandon, Johnson City; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Clovtier, Christian Hinkle and Jade Scism.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Johnson City Medical Center Intensive Care Unit and 2300 wing for their wonderful care.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 pm Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Boone Trail Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Yelton, Brother James Lewis and Evangelist Toonie Cash officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00-4:00 pm Sunday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 10:00 am Monday, December 24, 2012 at Washington County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Gene Davenport, Gene Loyd, Tom Smith, Greg Riddle, Doug Riddle, Josh Cloutier and David May.
