Mr. Bobby Sherrill Howell, age 79, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Howell was a native of Washington County and son of the late Cecil & Anna Louise Hammett Howell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Howell was also preceded in death by his wife, Constance B. Howell,

He was a member of Jackson Park Church of Brethren.

Mr. Howell was a United States Navy Veteran, having served on USS Benner during the Korean Conflict. He had also served in the National Guard for 5 years. He was a member of Rhea Lodge #47 F&AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite and Jericho Shriner.

He served as Jonesborough Police Chief for 15 years and retired from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department where he served as Bailiff.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lance & Vickie Howell, Jonesborough and Sherill & Saundra Howell, Johnson City; granddaughter, Angel Bailey and husband Jon, Jonesborough; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Bailey and Matthew Bailey, both of Jonesborough; and special companion and friend, Dortha Dykes, Jonesborough.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday, December 17, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Dykes officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00-7:00 pm prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Maple Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors being provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Boone Dam Post 4933.

Pallbearers will be family & friends.
