Mrs. Ella Ruth Day, age 82, Jonesborough, passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Day was the daughter of the late Homer & Pearl E. Sells. She was born on July 14, 1930 in the Knob Creek Community of Washington County. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy M. Sells Kinzie, a nephew, Louis Paul Kinzie and two infant nieces.
She was a member of Knob Creek Church of the Brethren and attended Fairhaven United Methodist Church with her husband.
Mrs. Day graduated from ETSU in 1951. She taught high school in Virginia, married Robert G. Day in 1953, returned to the Washington County School System where she taught 5th grade for 42 years. Before and in retirement she had a full life. She loved her family and did all she could for them. She contributed much to society, teaching and doing what she could to help others. She had many friends, loved people, and gave her time and energy to others. She was a very generous person and loved her family.
She was a member of Golden 50’s Club.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Day, Jonesborough; special great niece, Ella Elizabeth Sells; brothers, William H. Sells and Charles Sells and wife, Janice; nieces, Kathy Sells Milligan and husband Ricky, Brenda Sell Deaton and Rita Sells; nephews, W.R. Sells and wife, Mary, Homer Keith Sells and wife, Vickie, Jonathan Sells and wife, Rea, Mike Kinzie and wife Sherry; and several great nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, November 19, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Tae Hun Yoon and Pastor Allen Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00-1:00 pm Monday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Monte Vista Burial Park.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend appreciation to Dr. David Jones and Dr. Scott Watson for their wonderful care.
