Mr. Bobby Gene Gillis, age 68, Rutledge, TN passed away from Complications of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Gillis was a native of Washington County, TN and son of the late E. B. “Dooley” & Pearl Humphreys Gillis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gillis was also preceded in death by his wife, Rita Jo Kilby Gillis on August 15, 2000.

He was a member of Skyline Heights Baptist Church.

Mr. Gillis was a Truck Driver for over 30 years. Spending time with family and friends was the highlight of his days. He enjoyed his computer where he met many friends from all over the world.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Dempsey and husband, Michael, Tampa, FL and Regina France, Morristown, TN; one grandson, Steve France, Johnson City one granddaughter Mary Baldwin of Valdosta GA.; great grandchildren, Jacob France, Nevaeh France, Nathaniel France and Hailey Baldwin; brothers, Howard Gillis and wife Betty, Jerry Gillis and wife Pauline, Roy Gillis and wife Nancy and Tommy Gillis; and one sister, Susie Gillis Bennett.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Garry Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at New Salem Baptist Cemetery. The family request everyone meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandson and nephews. Honorary pallbearer will be Fred Collins.
