Mrs. Barbara Bernice Tester, age 73, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mrs. Tester was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late Ray & Flora Bell Chandler Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tester was also preceded in death by her loving husband, William Franklin Tester, a son, William Barry Tester and a daughter, Kathy Tester.

She was a member of Mayberry Community Church.

Survivors include six children, Richard Tester, Paula “Jane” Coomer, Alice Sanders, all of Jonesborough, Sherry Ponce, Unicoi, Mary Chapman, Hermitage, TN and Laura Tester, Jonesborough; nineteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Callahan and Ruth Dunbar, both of Limestone; two brothers, Ronald Mitchell and Donald Mitchell, both of Jonesborough; a special friend, Leonard “Deacon” Shelton; and several nephews and nieces.

She loved children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, known to them as “Granny”.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Kathy Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 1:00 pm Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Philadelphia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Roberts, Anthony Sanders, Dustin Coomer, Sam Sanders, James Spears and Josh Hartman.
