Mr. Hugh Alvin Jones, age 97, Jefferson City, formerly of Dandridge, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Chandler House in Jefferson City.

Mr. Jones was born in Unicoi County and later moved to Washington County. He was a son of the late Anderson Hendricks & Carrie Thompson Jones. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was also preceded in death by five brothers, Ernest, Everett, John, Dave & Claude and two sisters, Velma Cloyd & “Sis” Ella Ingram, who he made his home with for many years.

He was a United States WWII Army Veteran, having serving in the European Theater. Mr. Jones worked for Clinchfield Railroad for a number of years and later retired from local 453 Boilermakers Union, Knoxville, TN.

Mr. Jones was a member of Rhea Lodge #47 F&AM. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Knoxville.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Cook (John), Blairsville, GA; and his best friend and caregiver, Richard Donahoo, Dandridge and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Richard Donahoo for everything he has done for Hugh and all the nice employees and friends at the Chandler House.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Thursday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Seviers Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family & friends.
