Mr. Paul E. Hale, age 65, Jonesborough, TN passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at his residence.
Mr. Hale was a native of Castlewood, Virginia but had lived in Washington County since 1961. He was the son of the late Robert E. and Lillie Bise Hale. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Bishop.
Mr. Hale was a member of Chestnut Grove Union Church serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He sang many years with “ The Masters Voices” quartet.
He loved farming, never met a stranger, loved people and was known to many as “blue eyes”. Mr. Hale retired from Jacob’s Creek Job Corps as a heavy equipment instructor. He enjoyed training and working with young people. Mr. Hale was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers of Local 917.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Ann Bennett Hale, four sisters, Eva Mae Tate of Raleigh, North Carolina, Lee Sutherland (Bob) of Kingsport, TN, Betty Nell Hale of Lexington, KY, and Helen Ferguson (Ken) of Jonesborough, TN, four brothers, John Hurd (Bina) of Bristol, Bernard Hurd (Frankie) of Jacksonville, FL, Harold “Dean” Hurd (Shirley) of Pulaski, VA, Earl Hale (Betty) of Piney Flats, TN, and Allen Hale (Alice) of Jonesborough, TN. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Mr. Hale’s caregivers, Nonie and Linda of Caris Health Care.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 17, 2012 at Chestnut Grove Union Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ken Gaskin and Rev. Byron Paddock officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 5:00 " 7:00 PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be J. D. Hensley, Sam Stevens, Ronald Crain, Lynn Harris, Louis Hulse, Ronnie Breeden, Jeff Hale, and Lynn Hodge
Memorial contributions may be made to Chestnut Grove Union Church, 367 Chestnut Grove Church Road, Jonesborough, TN.
