Martha Louise Day McQueen

Mrs. Martha Louise Day McQueen, age 90, passed away, Monday, June 18, 2012 at NHC Health Care Center of Johnson City after an extended illness.

Mrs. McQueen was born in Johnson County and lived in Butler before moving to Limestone in 1947. She was a daughter of the late William David & Mae Dugger Day. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McQueen was also preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Kyle McQueen, three brothers, Tead Day, John Day and Ray Day, and one sister, Beulah Deloach.

She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. McQueen graduated from Johnson County High School, where she was a member of the Girls Basketball Team.

Mrs. McQueen was a homemaker, farmer and co-owner of Queendale Farm. She enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and raising chickens.

Survivors include her children, David Cyrus “D.C.” McQueen and wife, Joan and Patsy McQueen Greene, all of Limestone; grandchildren, Debbie Abbott and Lance of Johnson City, Becky Zinnianti and Chet, Jonesborough and Daniel Greene, Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Beth Zinnianti, Lisa Greene, Adrianne and Brandon Abbott; sister, Kate Wilson, Mountain City; brother, Clyde Day, Marion, NC; special niece, Jean Bates, Knoxville; niece and special caregiver, Georgia Freeman; and several nephews and nieces.

The family would like to send special thanks to NHC Health Care of Johnson City and Caris Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Friday, June 22, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Ponder and Rev. Charles Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
