Mrs. Judith “Judy” Tipton, age 62, Johnson City, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Appalachian Christian Village.

Mrs. Tipton was a native of Washington County and daughter of the late Charles “Red” & Georgia St.Clair Bales. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tipton was also preceded in death by her husband, Tony Tipton and a son, Paul Tipton.

She retired from the Veterans Administration as a Ward Clerk.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya & Steve Wheat, Jonesborough; grandson, Brian Wheat; sister and brother-in-law, Patty & John Chapman, Panama City Beach, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie & Caroline Bales, Knoxville; aunt, Muriel Bradley, Johnson City; very special friend, Jeannie Cooke, Johnson City; and several nephews and nieces.

The family request friends visit the home of her daughter, Tonya Wheat 998 Bayless Rd. Jonesborough.

Graveside services will be conducted 4:00 pm Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery. The family will meet at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home at 3:30 pm Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Frank Johnson.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of Appalachian Christian Village for their wonderful care during our mother’s illness.
