Doran D. Brookshire

Mr. Doran D. Brookshire, age 93, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. During his time of passing he was surrounded by his caring family.

Mr. Brookshire was a native of Washington County and son of the late Hamilton H. & Loretta Shoun Brookshire. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brookshire was also preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Pardue Brookshire, a sister, Wilma Thompson, an infant daughter, and a son, Terry Lee Brookshire.

He was an 82 year member of Cherokee Baptist Church. He was an active member for 80 years. Having served in many areas of the church, his most rewarding post was serving as deacon.

Mr. Brookshire was a World War II Veteran, stationed in Battle Creek

He was a self employed carpenter, electrician and plumber, at the same time maintaining and operating a productive farm.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Brookshire & Jim Price; five grandchildren, Crystal Gentry and husband Dwight, Tom Boone, Jesse Winford, Tonia Dye and husband, Michael and Chance Brookshire, all of Washington County, TN; seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to send out a very special thank you to Leslie Silsley for all she did for Doran and his family and extend an open invitation to the talking tree. We also wish to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice team and Trinna Britt.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Thursday, June 7, 0212 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. James Cambron officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday prior to the service and other times at the home.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, June 8, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin.

Pallbearers will be family & friends.
