Mr. Bobby L. Hammett, age 69, Telford, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Hammett was born in Pocahontas, Virginia and son of the late Nellie Mae Hammett. In addition to his mother, Mr. Hammett was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Hammett, Jr., two brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of Berea Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Hammett was a United States Army Veteran.

He retired from the United States Postal Service as a contract Mail Truck Driver. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers and gardening. He had a very special love for his family and especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Howard Hammett, Telford; sons, James Hammett and wife, Bridgette and Billy K. Hammett; one daughter, Jackie Rich; grandchildren, Whitney Miller, Adam Greene, Katie Greene, Logan Hammett, Makenzie Hammett, Madison Hammett, Brooklyn Killion and Megan Killion; great grandson, Blake Greene; two brothers, James Hammett, Johnson City and Herbert Wright, Virginia; several nephews and nieces; special friends, Shane Greene and Carl W. Miller.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Harold McNabb officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday prior to service.
