Mr. Billy Don “Pug” Adams, age 78, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Adams was native of Washington County and son of the late Wilson & Callie Moore Adams. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Dean Adams, Velma Kinnick, Kenneth Adams, Ernestine Martin, Leola Gray, Jean Ruble and June Broyles.

He was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church and attended Gray United Methodist Church.

Mr. Adams was a United States Army Veteran in the 82rd Airborne Division and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He owned and operated Gray Food Center.

Mr. Adams played Semi-Pro Baseball for the Pinemont Bulls, enjoyed golfing and was a self-taught banjo player and had played Old Time Mountain Music with the group Elderly Boys.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Larimer Adams, of the home; two daughters, Teri Underwood and husband, Howard Jr., Johnson City and Sherri Graves, Jonesborough; one son, James Adams, Telford; grandchildren, Donnie Adams (Amber), Curtis Adams (fiancé, Porsha), Brad Underwood, Jessica Underwood, Samantha Graves and Casey Graves; brother, Leroy Adams (Flobel), Colonial Heights; sister, Susie Harris, Greeneville; special friends, Jonas & Teresa Smelcer; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Collins, Dale Sanders, Terry Nunley, Ricky Wagner, Roy Lee Wagner and Billy Wagner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gray United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2108 Oak Street Johnson City, TN 37615.
