Mr. Roy R. “Rooster” Broyles, age 84, Greeneville passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

Mr. Broyles was a native of Washington County and son of the late Jerome & Lola Austin Broyles. In addition to his parents, Mr. Broyles was also preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Lanzon, a son, Roy Jerome Broyles and eleven brothers and sisters.

He served proudly in the United States Air Force, and was selected to serve as special guard for the Enola Gay that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima.

Mr. Broyles retired from AFG Industries

He was a loving father, giving man and enjoyed making music.

Survivors include three daughters, Dawn Broyles Rogers, Tracy Campbell (Neil) and Stacy Banks (Edward); son, Joshua Broyles; granddaughters Casey Moss and Felicia Banks; grandsons, Christopher Lanzon, Austin, Zachary and Matthew Moss, Aaron Jerome Banks; sister, Betty Miller, several nephews and nieces; special friend, Flo Sheeks.

Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Friday, March 30, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Kyker officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 & 6:00-8:00 pm Friday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 2:00 pm Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Greenelawn Cemetery, Greeneville.

The family would like to extend special thanks to personal caregivers and dear friends, Debbie Waycaster and Doris Morgan. The staff and nurses of 2800 ICU of the Johnson City Medical Center, special angel Annette, Dr. Vivian Clark, Dr. Jeff Farrow, friends and family who offered support.
