Mrs. Rose Reese Mottern, age 94, Johnson City, formerly of 305 Cherokee St., Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.

Mrs. Mottern was a native of Johnson County and daughter of the late U.G. and Cecilia Gregg Reese. In addition to her parents, Ms. Mottern was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Speedy” Mottern in November 1980, two sisters and nine brothers.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesborough and a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class and the Church Circle.

Mrs. Mottern was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #352 Jonesborough, a charter member of the Business Professional Women’s Club, and also a member of the Springdale Home Demonstration Club.

She retired from the County Clerk’s office in 1980.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to the service.

Interment services will follow the service at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Jonesborough.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
