Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Limestone Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. David Reece officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service. Interment services will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derek Payne, Josh Pierce, Brandon Honeycutt, Cody Silvers, Steve Head and Camron Scism. Honorary pallbearers will be David Silvers and Greg Swanson.

Memorial donation may be made to Limestone Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, 3709 Old State Rt. 34, Limestone, Tennessee 37681.


Mr. Dennis Wayne “Butch” Tweed, age 69, Limestone, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Tweed was born in Washington County and son of the late Eugene & Lena Ball Tweed. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tweed was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Valeria Lou Tweed, five sisters, Wanda Grace Tweed, Ina Louise Henry, Iris Loretta Patterson, Pearl Nichols and Vyrtle Lee Mongold and a brother, R.L. Tweed.

He was employed by Magnavox for over thirteen years and 30 years at Jarden Zinc Products as a Forklift Operator. He served as a Sergeant in the Tennessee National Guard from 1963-1969.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Slagle Tweed, Limestone; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Henry Payne, Jonesborough, Cynthia & Mike Honeycutt, Johnson City, Vivian & Wayne Pierce, Limestone and Patricia & David Silvers, Jonesborough; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley & C.L. Wilhoit, Thelma & Larry Waddle, Lora Davis and Betty & Steve Head; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces; cousins and friends, Barbara Taylor, Todd Taylor, Danny Ottinger and Clarence Tweed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sen and Staff, Dr. Boys and Staff, Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Caris Hospice and all his caregivers for their wonderful care.
