Memorial services will be conducted 2:30 pm Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Telford United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Looney officiating.
Interment services will be conducted at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.


Mr. Wandell Rudolph Newcomb, age 84, Telford, previously of Maine, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mr. Newcomb was a native of Jonesport, Maine and son of the late Whitney Burgess & Kathleen Lovilla Beal Newcomb Sr. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newcomb was also preceded in death by his first wife, Allene Fox Newcomb, a son, Arthur Wandell Newcomb and a daughter, Gayle Marie Newcomb.
He was a member of Telford United Methodist Church.
Mr. Newcomb served in the United States Navy, Army, and was a Merchant Marine, having served during WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He was an Industrial Arts School Teacher. He taught at Erskine Academy, South China, Maine and many other schools for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Lona Newcomb, of the home; son, David Allen Newcomb, Augusta, Maine; daughter, Pamela Jean Lambert, Telford; step-children, David Althenn and wife, Teri, Waterville, Maine, Daniel, Althenn, Augusta, Maine, Dianne Lane and husband, Jeff, Weeks Mills, Maine and Russell Althenn, and wife, Patty, South China, Maine; two brothers, Whitney Burgess Newcomb, Jr., Inverness, Florida and Delano Edward Newcomb, Sanford, Maine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
