Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Tammy Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 10:00 am Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, William Haston, Tommy Shoun, Ryan Garland, Mike Shoun and Noah Garland. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Hutchinson, Dr. William Kincaid, Rev. Johnny Bishop, Carroll Mullins and Ted Ervin.

Mrs. Carolyn E. Maiden, age 73, Jonesborough, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at her residence after a year long brave battle with cancer.

Mrs. Maiden was born August 31, 1938 in Mountain City, TN. She was a daughter of the late Eugene and Mae Brookshire. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maiden was also preceded in death by a sister, Pansy Greenwell and three brothers, Joe Brookshire, Dayton Brookshire and Kenneth Brookshire.

She was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Maiden enjoyed a long career in Home Health in the Tri-Cities area. She was administrator of COPE Home Care, Superior Home Health, NHC Home Care and Home & Hospital Nursing. She also provided consultant services to Home Nursing in Lebanon, VA, Wexford House and Cambridge House. She received the honor of Administrator of the year while at NHC. She was a member of the Alzheimer’s Association.

She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband of 34 years, Al Maiden, Jonesborough; her children, Belinda McCoy, Kimberly (Robby) Garland, Marvin Fritts and Stuart (Shannon) Fritts; grandchildren, Laura Johnson, Ryan Garland, Julia Haston, Lance Boyd, Allison Fritts, Brooke Garland, Sydney Fritts, Noah Garland, Elizabeth & Caleb Fritts; great-grandchildren, Brayden Garland and Raegan Johnson; sister, Stella Shoun; and several nephews and nieces.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff of Mountain States Hospice, especially Pam and all the other special nurses and staff, for all their care during Carolyn’s illness and to the members of Jonesborough United Methodist Church for their prayers, food, calls, visits and cards.
