Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Bob Grimes officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday prior to service.

Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Oakland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Wesley Squibb, Scott Squibb, Jon Morris, Ross Squibb, Gippy Martin, Ronald Dykes, Eddie Remine, and Anthony Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Washington County Soil Conservation District Board.

Mr. Freddy Squibb, age 85, Limestone, a loving husband, father, papaw, great papaw, and friend to all, went to be with his personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center.

He was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. Mr. Squibb was a charter member of the Washington County Soil Conservation District Board until time of death. He was recognized last year for his years of service.

Mr. Squibb was one of the founding members of Bowmantown Ruritan Club at which he was honored this past November for 50 years of service and dedication to the community.

He was a Washington County Magistrate. He served on the board of Tennessee Farm Bureau.

Freddy was a retired self-employed farmer and owner/operator of a lime spreader truck for Rainbow Chemicals. He was a retired floor manager at Big Burley Warehouse in Johnson City. Upon retirement, he enjoyed his family, attending his son Richard’s basketball games, daughter Gail’s school and church music programs, and watching his grandsons play sports and work on the farm. A favorite pastime was playing rook-especially winning rook tournaments at the Bowmantown Ruritan Club and Pioneer Grocery. He also enjoyed showing his antique tractors with the Antique Tractor Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Paul Squibb and Loretta Estella Squibb, Lucille McCray Squibb, beloved wife of 48 years, brother, Carl Squibb, sister-in-law, Ann Squib, sister, Ruth Stafford, brother-in-law, A.J. Stafford, brothers-in-law, Charles McCray and C.L. “Bud” Harrison, and nephew Terry Stafford and great niece, Melony Martin.

He is survived by his son, Richard Squibb and wife, Linda, daughter, Gail Squibb Morris and husband Jeff, three grandsons, Wesley Squibb and wife Rachel, Scott Squibb and Jon Morris and a great grandson, Weston Frederick Squibb, special sister-in-law, Nell Harrison, favorite nieces, Kathy Stafford Martin, nephews, Ross Squibb and Larry Harrison, cousins and wonderful friends.
