Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Wilmington, NC.

Ms. Edith Rhodes Bridger, age 84, of Wilmington, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at her son's home in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Ms. Bridger was born in New Hanover County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Lawrence Daniel & Bessie Oldham Rhodes. In addition to her parents, Ms. Bridger was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Jackson Rhodes.

She was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College in Greenville, NC and received a Masters Degree in Library Science at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.

Survivors include her four children, Captain Joseph C. Bridger, III, USCG, Retired, Wilmington, NC, (Angela), Sue B. Deric, Spring, Texas, Lawrence L. Bridger, Alpharetta, GA, (Ellen), and William A. Bridger, Johnson City, TN, (Vicki), one brother, Lawrence Daniel Rhodes, Jr., Castle Hayne, NC; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
