Margaret Ferguson Cook, age 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 23, 2018 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Washington County, TN November 6, 1937 and was the daughter of Fred and Ola Mae Ferguson. She was a lifelong resident of the Jonesborough community.
Margaret was an active, lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jonesborough, faithfully serving her Lord in many capacities. She was employed as a seamstress at the Steinway Company and later at Watauga Apparel in Johnson City. She finally retired from the Johnson City Medical Center after 15 years of service.
Margaret spent her retirement enjoying gardening, cooking, canning, working in her flowers, and working part-time at her church; but, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Doyle Cook, and her father, Fred Ferguson. Those survived to cherish her memory include: mother, Ola Mae Phillips Ferguson (Jonesborough), son and daughter-in-law Tommy and Angie Cook, granddaughter Laura, and grandson Daniel, all of Knoxville; one sister Virginia (Bobby) Bailey of Jonesborough, and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Jonesborough, TN from 5:00-7:00 pm with a celebration of life to follow at 7:00 pm. Rev. Brian Nulf, Rev. Cody Greene, and Rev. Charles Shelton will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brian Nulf officiating. Pallbearers will be Jesse Ford, Tim Ford, Rex Taylor, Kyle Blankenship, Danny Burgess and Daniel Cook.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Krishnan and the entire staff of the Johnson City Regional Cancer center for their support and caring treatment over the past three years.
