Lillian Irene McCracken, 90, of Limestone, passed away October 26, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living surrounded by family and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth “Cubby” McCracken; her parents, John and Nelle Franklin, and her loving brother, Joe Franklin.
Survivors include her daughters and spouses; Linda and Lee Howser, Carolyn and the late Dean Kinnick, Genice and Richard Adams; and one son David McCracken.
She was the loving “Granny” to seven grandchildren and spouses; Kenny Shelton, Mike Kinnick, Lori and Thomas Smith, Michelle Ward, Stephanie and Stephen Peake, Eric and Jessica Adams and Logan McCracken; twelve great-grandchildren, Michael, Zack. Shayla, Aubree, Tori, Conner, Ethan, Brandon, Addison, Averi, Alivia, and Kaylee; and five great-great grandchildren. She was also survived by special in-laws Frances and Felix Ooten, Mavis Fellers, and many nieces, nephews; special friends Wanda Shakleford and Betty Swift.
Lillian was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she and her husband attended while their health permitted.
Lillian loved and was loved by many during her life, especially while working at Greene Valley Developmental Center where she retired after 30 years. Her clients became family and coworkers became special friends.
Over the past three and half years, she has been loved on and cared for by the staff of Brookdale. They all have become a special family. Her favorite times were spent on the front porch rocking and eating TCYB yogurt or on cold evenings sitting by the fireplace with family and her new friends. Simple things like receiving her Wartburg newspaper made her happy.
Funeral services for Mrs. McCracken will be Sunday October 29, 2017 7:00PM at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 4:00 to 7:00PM prior to the service.
Graveside services will be Monday October 30, 2017 11:00AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be staff of Brookdale.
